The site is primarily a portal to further information on the Internet covering the subjects of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Redesign as well as providing localised information for the community groups.

	The Waitaki Resource Recovery Trust is a non profit Community Trust with an appointed board. 	Wanaka Wastebusters is a community enterprise, a more than profit business that is owned and operated for the benefit of our local community Over the last 6 years we have built up the capacity to deliver reuse and recycling services for our community. We operate under an incorporated society structure, with governance provided by an Executive Committee elected annually by the membership base with management and operation provided by paid staff.   Collecting recyclables from 4500 households, rural and urban, means recycling is now freely accessible to all households in the district. Diverting 34% by weight and 56% by volume of waste resource put out on kerbside. Working with Sustainable Wanaka Trust to ensure recycling is a viable option for Tourism businesses engaged in the MfE pilot project aimed at generating a more sustainability focused Tourism sector. Find out more about the business recycling collections in the Wanaka and Hawea areas.   3 tonnes of reusable goods leave our shop each week, the turnover form the shop subsidised all our recycling activities until September 2005 when we began delivering on the council contracts. Focal point for community with around 200 visitors a day.
